2019 Economic Target: Sign of Indonesia’s Business Improvement

Chairman of Fiscal Policy Board Suahasil Nazara said the target of 2019 economic growth reflects the improvement of Indonesia economy as well as business in Indonesia. The Economic growth targeted by government in 2019 is 5.2 to 5.6 percent. "We make it as a sign that the economy is going well, we want to be realistic, not too high, but as a sign that the economy is moving," he said.

One sign of the improvement of Indonesia economy can be seen from the increasing of tax revenues. Until the end of May 2018, tax revenue has reached Rp 484.5 trillion or grew up to 14.13 percent from the same period last year. "We will continue to pay attention, hopefully, the outlook will be better in the end of this year," Suahasil said.

Based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the realization of the growth of Indonesia economic in recent years is in the range of 4 to 5 percent. As the economic growth in 2015 amounted to 4.88 percent, 2016 by 5.03 percent, and 2017 by 5.07 percent. Meanwhile, the 2018 economic growth target is targeted at 5.4 percent.

Except of the economic growth, the government and the House of Representatives also agreed on other macroeconomic assumptions for the preparation of the 2019 Budget Plan, which is by estimated the rupiah exchange rate of Rp 13,700 to Rp 14,000. Then, in the 3-month SPN rate of 4.6 to 5.2 percent, the Open Unemployment Rate of 4.8 to 5.2 percent, the poverty rate of 8.5 to 9.5 percent, the gini ratio of 0.38 to 0.39, and Human Development Index (HDI) of 71.98.
